Cove lighting is one of the most powerful ambient tools available in an Indian home, and one of the most commonly done badly. It needs the right profile depth, warm colour temperature, correct LED strip density and, above all, coordination with the false ceiling design from the start. Retrofit cove is possible but rarely as clean.
Task lighting in Indian kitchens and bathrooms
The kitchen needs directed light on the counter, not just overhead in the ceiling. Bathrooms need vanity lights at face height, not spotlights above your head. These are boring points to insist on, and they change the daily experience of the home more than anything else.
Smart lighting: worth it or gimmicky?
Scene control, one switch that sets an evening layer, changes how families use their homes. Voice control and app control are useful when planned but often frustrating when forced on. Do I need dimmers on every light in the house?
No, but you should have dimmers on ambient lighting in the living room, dining, and master bedroom. Task lights usually do not need dimming; accent lights sometimes do. Over-specifying dimmers is a common budget waste.
Is smart lighting worth the extra cost?
For most homes, a well-planned scene control system is worth it. Full app-based smart lighting is worth it if you actually use scenes daily. If you rarely change lighting once installed, spend the money elsewhere.
